Using Exercise Equipment at your Tucson Gym.
For many people, one of the obstacles to going to a Tucson gym is finding the right exercise equipment. Let’s start with the basics: The first, most important exercise equipment that one needs to achieve his/her personal fitness is proper attire. The most important items to have when packing your traveling gym bag are a good pair of workout shoes and a clean pair of breathable socks (cotton). Make sure that you bring a water bottle and a workout towel (not all gyms provide linens). If you plan on showering at the gym, always have a little shower bag with your toiletry essentials (not all gyms provide the shampoo fragrance of your preference), and a pair of flip flops for the locker room and shower. It may be obvious to some fitness gurus, but the most essential exercise equipment one can have is a comfortable workout wardrobe. For some this means supportive undergarments, for others it means loose-fitting clothing. So once the gear is packed, it’s time to hit the gym.
For many gym members, entering a new gym can be an intimidating experience. Enter any large fitness center and one can easily feel overwhelmed by the sea of cardio, nautilus, free weights… so much exercise equipment to choose from. So how does one know where to begin?
While at your “home base” Tucson gym, you might have your routine down. You might know exactly which exercise equipment you plan on using on any given day, and you’ve drawn an easy mental map of your workout plan for that day. But what do you do when you are traveling and enter one of your gym fusion network gyms as a first-timer? Some basic exercise equipment you can easily scope out to hit the basic muscle groups are as follows:
- Treadmill: find this first, warm up for at least 5 minutes with moderate exercise.
- Medicine ball/yoga balls: great exercise equipment to use to work out your abdominals (even can be used to work out your glutes and quads… squats and lunges, anyone?) Check out your personal fitness training program to find the specific exercises you can do for your fitness program.
- Free weights: Most larger gyms have a free weight area that is easy to find. Grab a towel and a bench, and get a good arm workout with the exercise equipment that was outlined for you in your Gym Fusion personal training program.
- Back to the cardio exercise equipment area: Depending on your personal fitness goals, make sure to get at least 20-30 minutes of your workout in at the cardio section (rowing machine, elliptical, stationary bike, treadmill)
- Take a class instead of running on the treadmill. One of the great perks of a gym fusion membership is this: if your business travel puts your overnight stay in Tucson, and you want to take a spin class, just type in the zip code where you are staying and the class you’d like to take, and your membership will give you the gym or Tucson gym nearest to your hotel where that class is offered!
